THE 70% PROBLEM
Most lotion bottles are mostly water.
The water is held together with emulsifiers and preservatives so it feels like something on your hand. What actually reaches your skin is the 30% that's left.
Ours has none. Every ingredient is doing something.

FAQ
Mostly water — a 30-second tear-down.

What's so good about tallow in lotion?
Bit of a different answer than the soap. Most lotions are 60-80% water — which is why they need preservatives, emulsifiers, and why you're reapplying an hour later. This lotion has no water at all. It's tallow and oils, brought to a certain temperature to restructure the molecular crystallization and create that beautiful texture. A pea-sized amount melts on contact and absorbs into skin instead of evaporating off it. You can use less, and it actually stays.
Why does it come in a metal tube?
Aluminum doesn't leach into the oils, and it's infinitely recyclable. Each tube comes with a complimentary tube-key that you can wrap around the tail of the tube and squeeze out every last drop, effortlessly!
The lotion feels firm, am I using it wrong?
Not at all. We adjust the formula based around the seasons to make it a little firmer for shipments in the summer, and a little softer in the winter. A water-free formula can feel a little more solid at room temperature, but simply by holding the tube in your hand for 5-10 seconds, your body heat alone will warm it up for a nice squeeze. Take a pea-sized amount, and it melts the second it touches your skin. If you're scooping out a fingertip's worth like regular lotion, you're using five times too much.
Is it greasy?
Used right — a small amount, warmed in on contact — not at all. It absorbs well. Used like a water-based lotion where you slather a handful, yes, anything this concentrated would be. Start very small, because you can always add more.
Is it good for eczema or psoriasis?
Same honest answer as the soap: many customers with reactive skin tell us it's the only thing that doesn't sting or set them off (there's no water, so there are no preservatives, and no fragrance beyond the essential oils (or none, in unscented)). But it's skincare, not medicine. Talk to your doctor for the condition; use the refund policy freely if it's not for you.
What if it arrives soft, melted, or grainy?
Tallow is a natural fat and it responds to temperature. A hot delivery truck can soften it; big swings can change the texture slightly. None of that affects what it does on your skin. If the texture ever seems genuinely off, email me, and I'll sort it out.
Can I use it on my face?
Yes. This is my most common use! This recipe was carefully formulated to have the right ratio of tallow to get the benefits, but still remain non-comedogenic for most skin. If you're acne-prone, start with unscented and a smaller amount than you think you need!
Does it smell like beef or have a weird scent?
Not at ALL. And when I say that, I mean not even the slightest. You'll get a natural "scent" of the other oils, like jojoba in the unscented version, but it's nearly undetectable. There is NO BEEFY SMELL. The tallow used in our lotion is still 100% grass-fed, but it's pure suet (the fat surrounding the kidneys) and rendered 3 times for the utmost purity. I'm incredibly proud of that.
